Is this the year you plan on coming out of hibernation? Are you waiting for a wakeup call to start living the life God intended for you? There are clouds of witnesses watching and looking forward to the day we come out of our sleep to see ourselves the way God sees us.

Years ago, I knew someone personally who actually lived in Turkey for a time. While he was there, he became involved with someone of royalty who was actually a Princess in real life.

He described to me how beautiful she was and how refined. Her affluence was staggering. She literally had everything a man could possibly desire. She fell in love with him and desired that he marry her. She saw in him a potential for greatness and believed him to be everything she had ever wanted in a man.

However, no amount of coaxing helped build his self esteem or bolster his lack of confidence to follow through with the marriage. He told me he felt so unworthy of her grandeur and accolades. Ultimately, he moved away from that city and left her. He never believed he could measure up, so it was easier for him to walk away than deal with his expectations of failure.

How many times in your life have you experienced the “Princess and the Pauper” scenario, where some empowering person saw your true gifts and you chose to remain in disbelief, unsure you would ever succeed?

Have we all been so busy watching the performance of everyone else that we have forgotten to turn our attention to our own personal growth? I realized recently how distracted I have become doing this very thing!

See others as a mirror for yourself and your own growth. Are you willing to consider that the very tendencies that bother you most about the people who are in your life right now are actually the very same habits that you do in a slightly different way? It’s ALL about us, not them!

It is kinda like a big bear in hibernation and me with a sand spur, poking its paw and saying, “Hey! Come on over here! Isn’t this exciting? And look at this! You should consider doing this or that!” In reality, they may not be done hibernating. Leave them alone.

It is not our call when someone decides to step into their God intended Greatness. The biggest gift we can possibly give another is our inner commitment to hold that space open for them in our hearts. Release them to arrive at their destination when they are ready, if ever at all. Simply love them unconditionally, just the way they are, without judgment.

Let’s begin by acknowledging ourselves. Look in the mirror, right into your own eyes. Tell yourself how much you love and appreciate yourself just the way you are in this moment.

Smile at yourself and feel pleased about something you did that made you happy. Carry that feeling forward into the rest of your day. Watch how others begin to respond to you differently than before.

The feeling of joy is one of God’s most precious gifts. We just must decide to evoke the feeling and begin to participate. Wake up. Start living and stop worrying. Embrace life. There’s no better time than NOW!

The Cab Ride

Twenty years ago, I drove a cab for a living.

One night I took a fare at 2:30 a.m. When I arrived to collect, the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window. Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, and then drive away.

But I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation. Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself.

So I walked to the door and knocked. “Just a minute”, answered a
frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the
floor.

After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 80’s
stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940’s movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase.

The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All
the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

“Would you carry my bag out to the car?” she said. I took the
suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb.

She kept thanking me for my kindness. “It’s nothing”, I told her.
“I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated”.

“Oh, you’re such a good boy”, she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, and then asked, “Could you drive through downtown?”

“It’s not the shortest way,” I answered quickly.

“Oh, I don’t mind,” she said “I’m in no hurry. I’m on my way to a
hospice”.

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. “I
don’t have any family left,” she continued. “The doctor says I don’t have very long.” I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.

“What route would you like me to take?” I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me
the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator.

We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.

Sometimes she’d ask me to slow in front of a particular building or
corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly
said, “I’m tired. Let’s go now”.

We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low
building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.

Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They
were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.

I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The
woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

“How much do I owe you?” she asked, reaching into her purse.

“Nothing,” I said.

“You have to make a living,” she answered. “There are other
passengers,” I responded. Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly.

“You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,” she said.

“Thank you.”

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light.
Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.

I didn’t pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly
lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if
that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don’t think that I have done anything more
important in my life. We’re conditioned to think that our lives revolve
around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT ‘YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID, ~BUT~THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we
might as well dance.

Learn the real secrets to creating spiraling success in all areas of your life! It's NOT about putting the job first and yourself last, compromising your health, yourself AND your wealth....

The Eight Shocking Truths To Spiral Your Success

Does this sound familiar? I thought I was on the road to success by putting the job first and myself last, compromising my health, myself, AND my wealth. I learned that approach was a recipe for disaster. It has taken many years to finally learn the real secrets to creating spiraling success in all areas of your life. Drum roll please, here they are:

1) Support yourself and your world with a Divine purpose and a mission. Have a mission statement and vision; have an intention and goals. Write this down and review it and visualize it several times a day, particularly when you first wake up in the morning and before your go to bed at night.

2) Your attitude and inner conversation with yourself can make or break your momentum. Wean yourself from negative thoughts and words, people and places, actions and things. The Law of Attraction will bring to you what you focus on and what you feel. Fear-based thinking is only amplified through the television, news, newspapers, the media. Begin to pay attention to what you are feeding your subconscious mind.

3) Your earliest exposure to success principles or their downfall are locked in to your subconscious mind before you could even talk. As an infant and toddler, many habits and traits are picked up through modeled behavior from parents or other influential people in your life in those early formative years. Realize you can and must modify that thermostat setting within yourself in order to reach your dreams and have a better outcome in your life.

4) Dedicate time to being balanced in ALL areas of your life, including what and how you eat; exercise; sleep.

5) Tithe your time and money no matter how little you think you have to give. Start today. Start your day with 15-20 minutes of quiet time to go within yourself to recharge and to listen to the directives your intuition is trying to send you. Spend the last 15-20 minutes before bedtime relaxing your mind by meditating or reading something for self-improvement.

6) Develop an attitude of gratitude about what you have and the things that happen to you in your life for your greater growth and mastery. See obstacles as opportunities to grow rather than road blocks holding you back.

7) Develop a genuine sense of forgiveness for yourself and others for anything that you have done or that they have done to you. Do not hold onto grudges, resentments, anger, or retaliation. True freedom is forgiveness for the past.

Commit to random acts of kindness and empowering others with encouragement and loving regard to inspire them to their individual greatness.
